It will be seen that the Attorney-General has reported that, under the existing law, and under the covenants in the leases granted by the Colonial Government, the Crown is empowered to resume for public purposes any portion of these lands, on the payment of fair compensation; such compensation to be assessed by the Surveyor-General. I annex a specimen of the form of lease under which the lands in question are held.
