DESPATCH.
for Government a salary of $12,000 a year would be too high. I am of opinion, therefore, that it is better in this Colony to continue to allow the Attorney General private practice, as by this means the services of a capable officer are more easily secured.
6. I am not aware that the privilege of private practice has in this Colony interfered with the due discharge by the Attorney General of his public duties and I do not think it is liable to do so.

The Returns call for little remark. The acting superintendent appears to understand his work and I wish he had been confirmed.
