This man's pay does not exceed £100 a year but with the emoluments such as lodging, uniform and allowances added to the $480, I suppose it does exceed £190. It is unfortunate that in these cases prompt measures cannot be taken as the Acting Superintendent seems to think that Ryan's example, which has not yet been finally dealt with, has led to this new case of assault on a prisoner. I recommend that both Ryan and O'Donnell be at once interdicted, and that O'Connell be also brought before Executive
