an acting superintendent of this Gaol. Brown is in for six months for larceny. His conduct has been bad. He has been reported: seven times. Most of the offences are serious ones, such as insubordinate language, disorderly conduct &c. My experience of him is that he is a troublesome prisoner. He has never been personally impertinent to me nor to my knowledge to Mr. Jonnochy, but Mr. Jonnochy got annoyed at his propensity to talk.
Ryan's character upon inquiry - 18 months service, nothing against him.
