states. I am a
prisoner in this Gaol. On Friday morning the 30th March about 7am. Turnkey
Ryan brought me my day's supply
of oakum, and presently, returned to the cell to pass
the night soil bucket. I had some conversation with him as to the oakum being unusually tarry. He asked me in the usual
way if I wished to see the Doctor or the Superintendent. I replied;
