are animated by the same feelings as myself on this point. It

need hardly be added that instructions have been given for

the reservation for Military purposes of such portions of the lands referred to by the War Office

as are still the property of the Colonial

Government; and that this course will

be followed to whatever extent

desired, so soon as

I am made acquainted with the complete and

final plans of the War Office.

It will be a source

of deep regret, on public grounds, if

any lands which

may ultimately be required for Military purposes, should be alienated by the Colonial Government

- simply owing to its being left in ignorance of the future intentions of the Military authorities in London. It is understood here that the War Office is now desirous to purchase from private persons at a considerable cost to the public, certain lands adjacent to the Barracks, which from the beginning should never have been appropriated

except to Military purposes. In
