Compary's
servants who live
have never
at the water's edge suffered to the same cruel
extent as the constables quartered
in the Police station. The
remedy for the will be found
in the reclamation
of the swamp which can be done
for $3000 and the construction of a new Police station on a site without the limits
of the village and will be exposed to East and West
winds.
Mr. Deane recommends
a site
on the opposite village of
Aplichao and I would have joined in this recommendation but for the noxious black
mud foreshores which also everywhere fringe that village. I think a comparatively healthy position for the new
station
may be found
on the hill spur to the East of the present Harbour Police Office. The cost of a building to hold
22 men will come to $12,500.
