My attention was

at the same time called to

the overcrowded and

unhealthy state of some of the Police Quarters. This has

been frequently reported to

Government since the

year 1875. I was induced to think that probably this had more to do with sickness in the force than the extra night

duty; but it was

impossible to get a proper report on the subject until the return

of Mr Price to the Colony,

and other important works have prevented his making

the full report which was required, a few days ago.
