As for that a knowledge of the Chinese language is of more importance than legal attainment - The point has hitherto turned on Mr d'Almada's forth. But this strikes at the root of the cadet system.

Magistrates Young Cadets are at once in the Straits & Police. Depriving Civil Service, Quelpart & Party entered in the office when their services were started.

On the other hand the despatch is a miserable arrangement transparently for the worse.

I would have nothing to do with him, but would look out for a barrister from elsewhere.
