shall go on half-pay, or be "seconded", and that he shall devote himself wholly to the duties of Superintendent, including, so far as may be practicable in this Colony, the study and application of the penal discipline, and reformatory system now in force in England.
8. Finally, I would request your Lordship to cause the Government to be furnished, as soon as conveniently may be, with full copies of the Regulations now in use in the model prisons of the United Kingdom. I find that few of the recent improvements in penal discipline have as yet been introduced in this Colony.
