brought to us for our signature
which we were very glad to put. Ourselves not being able to be present at the time of the
presentation of the Address, it
having been notified to us too late we thought it our duty to
send this letter to
Your Excellency expressing on
our own and on behalf of our
European and native Missionaries
in Hong Kong our best appreciation for the liberal spirit, with which Your Administration has been
marked, and our warmest thanks for all the good services which your Excellency
on behalf of us
