in his or her house as above described) be found containing it's article then such opium more or less shall immediately be valued and according to the cost of which the proceeds shall be paid into the coffers of this (Sun Co.) Company
and besides confiscating the opium a sum $5000. shall be demanded from the said shop for infringing of this article as amends to the Company.
Article 22. Opium boiled and prepared by the seven shops for this (Sun Co.) Company shall be packed in cases and have to be put in tins daily before delivering over to this (Sun Co.) for proper storage in order to avoid cheating. It is publicly decided that if this article be violated by one of the 7 shops in (not sending the opium after being boiled and prepared to the Sun Co.) the said shop violating this article shall have to pay to this (Sun Co.) Company amends of $2000.
Article 23.
Article 24. Previous to the amalgamation of the different Companies' Chop thing and for the purpose it is calculated that they on ship cargoes of prepared opium remaining in Bond in California and Australia – this sort remaining in Bond should be sold as soon as possible to have the accounts settled: the sys are therefore requested in the meantime from boiling any more opium until such a time when advice is received from the Managers in California and Australia as to what quantity of prepared opium is required to be sent. As chop of prepared opium is now in Hong Kong ports which would last but a few weeks' consumption then more opium shall be boiled and prepared as per order from the Agents/Managers of the branch offices (California and Australia).
