being subscribe a capital of Hs$: 30,000 of siber which makes up the total capital of Th$: 300,000. In the event of the money (capital subscribed) being found insufficient to meet the wants of this Company, the Chan Thing and Yan Ho shall be made to pay up calls towards such deficits as may be required in proportion to the number of shares held by them.

All license fees for opium prepared in the Colonies of Hong Kong and Macao shall solely and wholly be paid and received by the San Yik Company. Interest at the rate of one tael of silver per month for every hundred taels of silver shall be paid to shareholders according to the amount they have paid in as capital and loans subsequently raised by the Company from shareholders to meet deficits shall also be entitled to have the same rate of interest (of one tael per month for every hundred taels subsequently paid in).

Article 3rd

The name of the Company for purchasing prepared opium for the Australian markets (The Factory at Australia) is styled the Hop Yik Company, the business of which is divided into 150 shares, of which Tai Fui, the Chan Thing (firm), is entitled to 105 shares and Yik Li of the Yan Ho (firm) is entitled to 45 shares. Each share is to subscribe a capital of Hs$: 1000, which makes up the total amount of capital of Hs$: 150,000. This (Hop Yik) Company shall have the whole management, ordering (in the purchasing) and disposing of all prepared opium sent to the Australian Colonies, Melbourne, Sydney, New Zealand, and Queensland.

Article 4. The name of the Company for (ordering) purchasing prepared opium for the California markets, The Factory at California, is styled the Hop Yi Company, the business of which is divided into 300 shares, which Tai Fui of the Chan Thing (firm) is entitled to 186 shares, and Yik Li of the Yan Ho (firm) is entitled to 114 shares.
