-Exclusive privilege of Hongkong agrees to take into partnership the You Too Company then trading at Macao - that the two Companies when amalgamated will trade under the name of the Sim Yee Company - and that the agreement is to date from the 1st day of April 1874. The term of partnership as appears from the 26th Article is to be for ... years, and breaches of Articles are to be visited with heavy penalties. It will further be seen that a combination was made with Companies in Australia so as to complete the monopoly in California and those ports were composed of two elements representing the Chop Thing and Yau Yik interests here. It is obvious that the Chop Thing Company dictated very stringent terms to the You Too Company, and that they were able to do so simply because the You Too Company was handicapped and practically excluded from the foreign markets. The "Fuk Jung", "Tai Ping", and "Ching Ling" chops, trade marks of the "You Too Company", commanded a much better price, as already stated, in both the Australian markets.
