The object of this Ordinance is to replace certain words in Hong Kong Companies Ordinance I of 1877 which have hitherto prevented Companies from dividing their shares as they wished.
The effect of the amendment is to bring the provision of the Colonial Ordinance into conformity with the corresponding provision of the Imperial Act.
The reasons for which it was thought fit to introduce this Ordinance are fully set out in the letter of the Secretary to the Hong Kong Fire Insurers' Association, a copy of which should accompany this report.
