The late Farmers make an extraordinary improbable statement about Sir J. P. Hennessy having promised to adopt means to prevent merchants in any other British Colony exporting opium to Australia or California. What means could they imagine he had of restraining the Penang Merchants?
Possibly the increased price of the opium in this Straits Settlements may enable the Penang Merchants to increase the price at which they export opium; and the Hongkong firm may be willing to offer a higher price for the Farm;
