I think it would be most advisable to have only an ordinary compounder as Hospital Apothecary, the work of analysis connected with the Prisoner, Police Departments has much increased of late years and would greatly interfere with the duties of the Sanitary Inspector, not only necessitating much time spent in the laboratory but also much time spent in the Courts. Moreover, much has of late years been done in the preparation of drugs for dispensing here, which has been a considerable saving to Government and which could not be trusted to an ordinary compounder.
