On a footing different to the constables who were enlisted before; otherwise it appears that every officer might feel aggrieved at not receiving the same terms as all his predecessors, and on such grounds the abatement in the case.
Suggestion to alter the terms of future policemen regarding the eligibility for pension after ten years, which is granted to the men at present in the force, would be conferred.
Mr. Deane points out that if the pay is raised to 4/2, then Constables will be little better off in point of salary, only more per day, than they would get in England; but this is £5.17 for tropical service.
