here to report and followed me to the Treasury. The information came from leading Lung seim raw who requested the informant to see the Police. Mr. Bri A yuk also came to my Office yesterday afternoon and informed me that one man had been beaten by the Police but that the fight was prevented by the timely arrival of a body of Police.

Today I have got further particulars and it appears that a rice pounder of the Fried Society, who is a man named Mith..., had gone to a gambling house kept by a Ting Hung Maw and had attempted to rob the gamblers and claim winnings which he had not gained. This was resisted, and the man was badly beaten.

The rice pounders were determined to revenge the injury to their man and they had arranged for the fight yesterday. The battle ground was to be the Recreation ground. The informant of yesterday whom you saw tells me that the Police arriving early prevented the engagement, as all the Tung Hung How had knocked off work.

The Head District Officer, Baletumaw, knows it all.
