A few months ago some anniversary was celebrated by them in the city of Victoria when Inspector Quincey was sent round to the different dinners given on that occasion and saw them assembled. The professed objects of the Triads are of a political nature but the prospect of plunder is believed to have considerable influence with them, the society being largely recruited from the Criminal Classes.
