Report on Ordinance No 1 of 1883.
I have examined the accompanying Ordinance, being an Ordinance entitled "An Ordinance to consolidate and amend the law relating to distraints for rent", and I am of opinion that the Ordinance is not contrary to the Governor's instructions.
The object of this Ordinance is to provide for the levying of distraints for rent by the Bailiff of the Supreme Court exclusively. The Ordinance follows the lines of an Ordinance of the Straits Settlement.
