Your Honour has been long famous for your virtue, intelligence, and administration year. How then permit gambling and sly brothels to vaunt themselves in the light of day? If the evil is not removed entirely, but is allowed to prosper from day to day, how can the Colony flourish? How can its inhabitants live in peace?
Your Petitioners are grieved at the sight of these things and therefore, presume to conjointly present a detailed petition to your Honour with the prayer that you will adopt measures for dealing with the matter, for which great favour they will be forever grateful.
Appended are certain suggestions, which Petitioners submit for consideration and approval.
