In reply to your letter of 5103 June 2nd 1882 I have the honor to
inform you that the Kew bommittee are of opinion that the reduced esti mate of Mr Price accompanying that letter might be recommended by trem for adoption as including the most necessary equipments and arrange- ments for.
an observatory at Hong Kong.
It appears that the site proposed for the time ball, on Mount Elgin, is at some
time-ball, distance from the harbout, but it is stated that that locality is the only one available which is visible from all parts of the
harbour.
