1. It is proposed to construct across the Tytam Gorge on the site shown in Drawing N. 1. a rubble and concrete masonty dam on concrete foundations with a view to forming a lake or impounding reservoir of 25 acres surface circa, and to contain about 300 million, gallons:

The Catchment basin of the Tylam Valley above the reservoir site is about 700,

2

Estatute acres

in extent, an area which with the minimum

Hong Kong rainfall of about 50 inches per annum will yield or chainage of 790 million gallows

From this gross drainage however

each

a

an

year. must be deducted sucky per cent for lovved from evaporation and percolation, leaving available balance for storage of about 314 million gallons.

3.

Of these 316 million;

million gallons, it will however only be possible to store some 300 millions this being the extent of the holding capacity of the reservoir, but the contents of the latter will be suplemented during the whole of the dry season by an additional supply of some 130,000 gallons a day, from the perennial sheam which flows along the bottom of the Gorge. A daily supply of 130,000 gallons represents

aggregate of 23 million :-gallons during the dry secesen of six months and increases the whole volume of water to be

cen

derived from the proposed. new Waterworks to 323 million gallons.

4. The population of the City of Victoria being now about 130,000 and still increasing the Teftam Water supply evenly distributed over the six months
