1. Your instructions for disposal stores and equipment now in course implementation. The running of a Hongkong convoy will necessitate leaving small rear party under Brigadier Cartwright. Consider rear party should complete work not later than 31 January (1946).
2.
Anticipate Field's arrival here on about 18 Dec. Propose spending say 10 days with him to introduce him and get him settled and then leaving China say on 31 Dec announcing to Chinese the official closing of B.T.O. less rear party with effect from that date.
3. Request orders for my own movement.
