F&168
THE CHIEFS OF STAFF took note of a telegram from the Commander in Chief, British Pacific Ficet, in reply to a telegram from the Chiefs of Staff asking for information regarding press reports which stated that 12 U.S. Navy flying boats had arrived at Hong Kong. C.-in-C. Hong Kong stated that he had received prior notification of their arrival and that they had in fact been of considerable assistance in providing air facilities to Shanghai. No American aircraft carriers had yet arrived at Hong Kong, and no requests had been made for shore facilities for aircraft.
The Chiefs of Staff agreed that no further action seemed necessary.
