Reference C.T.F. 111. 080153. C.T.F. 74 was directed proceed Hong Kong and endeavour arrange for his force to base there during operations for moving Chinese Armies South China to Northern ports and for basing Servdiv 101 there to support TF 74 with facilities afloat. Shore amenities to be requested of local authorities were expected to be limited to athletic and recreational grounds and housing for Officers Club and enlisted men's canteen. Understand civilian establishments reported as not existing. No intention establishing any service force facilities ashore.

Had hoped base aforementioned forces Hong Kong as mentioned above (and later?) to base there our more permanent south China Force, Is C.T.F. 111 080153 to be construed, as meaning you are unable to allow necessary ber thing or setting up ashore the limited amenities mentioned. If so request early advice in order that necessary adjustments may be made. Meantime com. 7th. Fleet is being directed to advise you in advance of any further desired entry of his ships into Hong Kong.
