THE COMMITTEE had before them a noto by the War Office the proposed tamporary increase in the garrison of Hong Kong.

SIR ANDREW CUNNINGİLAM said that the Admiralty were taking up with the C.-in-C. East Indies Floct the question of using C. V. E. s to assist in the novo of the additional brigade from India to Hong Kong.
BRIGADIER THOMS asked when it was proposed to relievo the Commando Brigade, as there was likely to be considerable wastage in the near futuro duc to the release of age and service groups, and also to PYTHON releases. In view of the proposed disbandent of the army commandos no rolicfs would be available in this country.
SIR ARCHIBALD NYE said that he would look into this question of wastage, but that it was not possible at the moment to give a definite dato of relief owing to the complexities of the shipping situation.
THE COMMITTEE -
Approvod the note and instructed the
Secretary to despatch the annexed telegram with the addition of the fourth paragraph stating that C.-in-C. East Indies Fleet vog boing coked if he could assist with the transport of the brigade from India.
