10.

Royal Marines landed at Penang on the 3rd September.

A further brigade from 5th Indian Division is standing by in

case it is required.

The Naval Force under command of Vice Admiral Walker

which supported this landing, consists of:-

H.M.S. Nelson

2 Cruisers

1 Escort Carrier

8 Destroyers.

Singapore

11. The terms of agreement for the occupation of Singapore

were signed on board H.M.S. Sussex, the flag ship of Rear

Admiral Holland, anchored off Singapore, at 6 p.m. on

4th September. Lt. General Sir Philip Christieson

represented Admiral Mountbatton at the signing of the agree-

ment. The 5th Indian Division landed in Singapore on the

5th Septober. The landing was supported by a naval force

consisting of:-

2 Cruisers

2 Destroyers

2 Flotillas of Minesweepers.

An Australian parachute battalion and an R.. F. squadron

will arrive at Singapore as soon as it is reported that the

airfields are ready.

The main convoy which includes hospital ships, base ships,

personnel ships, L.C.T. and escort vessels, arrived on

6th September.

Port Swettenham

12. 23rd and 26th Indian Divisions will land on the

9th September.

They will be supported by:-

2 Battleships (One French)

3 Cruisers

9 Assault Carriors

16 Destroyers

4 Sloops.
