Following from Colonial Office as regards
Hong Kong.
Commercial interests in United Kingdom have
been warned that admission of representatives to
Hong Kong during initial period will depend on
consent of Military Administration.
2. Arrangements for particular important
industries and commercial interests as follows.
(a) (1) Shipping and Dock Companies. Following
a first phase in which port will be under
direct Admiralty control, shipping agencies
have formed joint association, Far Eastern
Shipping Association (PESA), for operation
until normal conditions restored. Personnel
available in United Kingdom and India.
(2) Wharf and Dock companies have
representative personnel available for
admission as soon as permitted as follows.
Taikoo Dock Company: one technical
expert representative
Kowloon Wharf Company:
one general
administrative re-
presentative selecte
by General Managers
of Company.
(b) Utilities.
Engineer representing Telephone Company and
executive engineer representing China Light and
Power Company form part of Civil Affairs Unit.
