2. Then order the release from prison camp of such

senior British Government Officials as Mr Tomson (or

Mr Timson) may determine and from S and P Camp the senior Naval Army and Airforce officers of Argnl Street Camp the Senior Indian Officer. You will proceed with these officers

and interpreters and such of your personal staff as you may determine to Kai-Tak Aerodrome landing strip on arrival there you will order heavily laden trucks bearing white flags to be driven up and down the full length and breadth of both runways. Seeing all the foregoing orders having been carried out you will cause to be displayed on rendesvous in large white letters the ground signal WS which indicates that you have obeyed all the above orders and are prepared capitulate according to the terms of the armistice.

(E) The appearance of this signal will be reported by fighters to Main Party who on arrival will then circle over the Colony and land in following order troop carriers stores main party. Immediately on disembarkation troops will take up positions around area where party will disembark and personnel accompanying Japanese Commander will be instructed to take up their positions within this area. Fighters incurred will remain airborne to protect party from treachery or to deal with street riots if required.

(F) Observation party will receive official capitulation and then instruct Japanese Commander that he will be held responsible for maintenance of law and order till main Occupying force arrives until further orders.
