Bay they had no American logistic support on which to rely and after 6 weeks at sea are deficient in many essential stores.
After arrival at Manus on 18th August ships of T.G. 3 of T.F. 37 less 2 Cruisers and 2 Destroyers joining T.G. 2 of T.F. 111 and T.G. 3 of T.F. 111 must be withdrawn to Australia so that the Fleet Train may be free to provide maximum possible support to the remaining forces forward.
