TOP SECRET

Machin's telegram No. 2619 to War Office and your telegram No. 559 [of 9th June: message from His Majesty's Consul, Macao].

It appears that this request was sent to His Majesty's Consul at Lacao by Colonel Ride at the instance of MacDougall. It has now been decided however that d'Almada is not required. See my immediately following telegram.

2. Please instruct His Majesty's Consul to take no (repeat no) action. It is undesirable that he should be involved in clandestine operations of this kind which transgress the instructions conveyed to him in your telegram No. 99 of 1943. Please take steps to ensure that in future Colonel Ride consults you before invoking His Majesty's Consul's help in such matters.
