Dear Gent,
FOREIGN OFFICE, 5.6.1.
4th January, 1944.
I enclose herewith a copy of a letter from Sansom in Washington sending us a summary of Chinese opinion about the future of Hong Kong, compiled by Nash of the British Overseas /ress' service.
In a previous letter Sanson told us that Nash was "a rather innocent creature who is utterly 'sold' on the Chinese". But he appears to have extensive contacts with the Chinese, and should therefore be in a good position to report accurately what their views are on such a subject as Hong Kong.
I am sending a copy of this to Redman, sinistry of Information.

G...J. Gent, sq., C.M.G., D.S.O.,
Colonial Office.
