Everyone in Hong Kong believes that the Colony is going to be relieved in three months time by the united forces of Chinese, British and Americans.

Mrs. P. H. Teng said that Chungking troops are discussing which parts of Hong Kong they are going to loot. It is commonly said that all the racket for looting erranged before the Hong Kong hostilities has been arranged again for such time as the Japanese leave. The Chinese plan to loot Robinson, Cain and mid-level roads that escaped last time. It is supposed that the gangs of lootersare to be different this time, but similarly organised. Miss Gomez living in Kowloon said that some people marked their doors with secret signs and were not touched.

As a result of the reported commando raid the Japanese became very strict on the roads and very jumpy. One of the fathers going out to Loyola on the Castle Peak road with a Japanese permit was nearly shot by a nervous sentry.

A Japanese is supposed to have said that he knew what would happen to the Japanese when things went against them, but they would die fighting, whilst the foreigners would all die of starvation.

Morale: Dr. Gosano said the morale in Sham Shui Po was excellent when he was there, and Selwyn-Clarke said that morale in Stanley was also high. At one time the Stanley people has felt that they had been abandoned and had sent a note to the Japanese for repatriation. changed their attitude.
