Attitude of non-official British subjects in
Shanghai towards the Japanese.
Refers to Foreign Office telegram No.1,642 of 13t March (F 1495/1494/10).
Rumours from one or two sources state that non-- official British subjects in Shanghai have been ac- cused of too much co-operation with Japanese since 7th December as United States evacuees from Shanghai will reach the outside world before British from that port it might cause unpleasant comments to be made. Presumes line to follow would be that mentioned in paragraph 2 of Foreign Office telegram to Washington No.1642 and asks for any other guidance that Foreign Office can give for meeting such possible criticism.
