Evacuation of women and children from Hong Kong.

Transmits copy telegram No. 426 of 2nd August to Hong Kong stating that request of unofficial members of Legislative Council has been considered with all sympathy but His Majesty's Government regret that their view of political situation in Far East is not such as to warrant cancellation of evacuation order. Defence policy must today over-ride trade interests in Hong Kong as in the United Kingdom.

Approves use of official majority for vote to meet balance not met by evacuated families. Trusts that unofficial members will not oppose defence expenditure in this crisis.
