Your 76435 (M.0.2.) 16/7, and my 7512 17/7.

In view of imminence of move of officers and other ranks

families to Australia request immediate repeat immediate authority to offer

the following terms to those concerned. Desirable that officers wives

should not be compelled to go to Australia if more convenient alternative

available for them and to relieve accommodation as far as possible in

Australia. Wives and familes of officers should be given option of

proceeding by Government passage to Australia or making private arrangements

to go elsewhere at own expense without losing right to ultimate repatriation

to U.K. at Government expense.

Officers whose wives do not proceed to

Australia will receive the same scale of marriage allowance as to be

ultimately fixed for Australia. No option to be given to families of other

ranks proceeding to Austrlia where they will be accommodated and fed at

Government expense as proposed in my 7512 of 17/7. F.A. and C.P. concur.
