Dear Gent,
With reference to Andrews' letter 54024/39 of the
21st November and to my reply F 12050/3361/10 of the 2nd
December last on the subject of the indiscreet letter
written by Sir Henry Pollock to President Roosevelt, we
have now heard from our Embassy at Washington that the
Ambassador availed himself of a recent opportunity to speak
informally on the matter to Mr. Summer Welles, the Under
Secretary of State.
