Dear Consulate-General,
Your despatch No.257 of the 11th October about the notes in circulation of the Mercantile Bank of India Limited.
You state that you hold in the joint names of His Britannic Majesty's Consul-General and the Mercantile Bank of India a deposit receipt for the sum of 12,000.00 dollars, deposited at call with the Central Bank of China, while the Bank states in the enclosure forwarded by you that you hold 12,888.99 dollars.
We have noticed a difference between the two figures in past returns and there is no doubt a
