to emphasize to Your Excellency the importance of
causing the authorities in China to refrain from
proceeding with plans for the establishment of the
bank of issue, and I feel sure that Your Excellency
will desire to take the necessary measures to that
end..
In view of the serious concern of my Govern-
ment in this question, I shall appreciate receiving
such information as may be available, which informa-
tion will, I sincerely trust, confirm my belief that
the Japanese authorities in China will respect the
interests of third powers.
