CHINA
Japanese press on financial situation in China.
Serious concern is felt in Japanese industrial circles over the further fall in value of Chinese national currency. "Nichi Nichi" of 7th May says that inflationary tendency in China is producing economic chaos in certain areas, and is making more difficult the Japanese task of constructing a "new East Asia".
Restrictions have been imposed to limit Japanese travellers to China to persons with legitimate and urgent business. This is to prevent the devaluation of the yen in the Shanghai market.
