Proposed Bill to amend Merchant Shipping Ordinance 1899.

Refers to Foreign Office letter of 7th July (F 6570/3361/10). No. 510 of 25th July reporting on the case of the

"Dholera" in connexion with which a conference was held at Hong Kong and a recommendation was made for certain amendments in the Hong Kong Shipping Ordinance. Subject to Foreign Office approval, Colonial Office propose to inform the Governor of Hong Kong that for reasons already set out, they prefer that the draft bill for the amendment of the ordinance should not be proceeded with.
