FAR EAST SITUATION.
Mr. David Adams asked the Prime Min- ister whether, in view of the stimulated excesses of mob elements in Shanghai he will ascertain whether there are sufficient British troops present to help in main- taining order under any circumstances?
Mr. Butler: My Noble Friend's informa- tion does not indicate any recent out- breaks of mob violence having occurred at Shanghai. There is no reason to think that the forces at the disposal of the British commander are not adequate to take their share, in collaboration with the forces of other Powers, in the mainten- ance of order.
