Weekly situation report number 17.

Below Barrier.

British ships continue to run in Haimen area

in spite of Japanese alleged operations. A gunboat remains

near Japanese ships. There is little trade in Delta for

anybody including Japanese. The situation on the rest of

the river is unchanged with no signs of Japanese offensive

anywhere but many stories of guerilla pressure. Attempts to

stage anti-British demonstrations at treaty ports have

failed to be effective.
