BRITISH EMBASSY PEKING.
16th. June, 1939.
Dear Mr. Matsuo,
I conveyed to our Embassy Guard Commandant your kind
enquiry regarding the condition of Private Lant, who was
accidently wounded in the street and your suggestion of
contributing towards the hospital expenses, and I am desired to
convey to you the Commandant's great appreciation of your prompt
action in the case. The man is at present getting on well, but
it is not yet certain whether his wound will affect his future
health and military efficiency.
Ienquired regarding the bullet and am told that it was
not found in the wound and that the bullet must have passed
direct through the leg.
Mr. T. Matsuo,
Japanese Embassy
Peking.
