Sir,
I have the honour to schnoeledge the receipt of
your secret telegram do.246 of 7th Cetober, 1/09, reporting
a possible approach by the Japanese Consul-eneral at
Hong Konus
On 15th September the Consul-General, Er. Akiyoshi
Bajiri colies on the neting Colonial Decret ry. He began
by referring to a previous discussion regarding the question
of facilities for the repatriation of Chinese refugees in
the Colony and stated that he had consulted the Japanese
authorities at Canton in the matter. These had replied
that they were anxious to see the establishment of more
friendly reletions and that they were willin, te discuss
the repatriation of refugees and interned soldiers and
certain measures for the reopening of no:munications between
Song Kong and the hinterland; in return they asked that
measures should be taken to limit the ac ivities of
Chungking agents operating in Hong Kong.
