must apologise for troubling you at a tine when I realise you must be very busy, but I have been requested by Hajor-encral Figgott, British Military Attache in Tokyo, to a proach you on the question of the Chinese soldiers now intered in Hong Kong.
The local Government authorities here are
anxious to release those of the soldiers who are
permanently disabled, many of whom are seriously crippled or are suffering fron tuberculosis. The latter, of course, are a menace to the bealth of the remainder.

It would be very much appreciated by the ritish authorities if you could ss0 your way to sanction the release of these men, all of whom, I can give you "y assurance, are permanently unfit for further service. We will, of course, supply you with a list of their names and particulars of their disabilities, if cosired.
I much regret having to bother you with this matter, as also the length of this letter.
