Dear Broadmead,

I have now made the follow ing additions to the

extended list of Chinese Govemment Official and Sem 1 --

official offices in Hongkong, a copy of which was enclosed

in my letter to you, 3/0 4 of the 27th February 1839:-

Item (9) on the list is merely the longkang branch of the

Bank of China, and I have made a no te against that item

in my copy to see item (30). The Head Office of the

Bank of China is in chrge of P'ei Tsu-yee who, as you

know, was formerly in charge of the office in Shangha 1.

He works in a small room next to the rooms occupied by

T.V. Goong, I understand that he and Soong are concerned

principally with currency matters. His desk, when Rob

Scott and I called on him the other day, was piled with

correspondence headed in Chinese "Head Office of the Bank

of China.**
