As Chairman and Honorary Secretary respectively of the British

Committee formed for the purpose of raising funds to assist the

work of the Protestant Evangelical Bible School at Newchwang,

Manchukuo, we desire to bring the following matters under your

Lordship's notice, and to crave the favour of the intervention of

His Majesty's Government in relation thereto:

The Newchwang Bible School was established in 1930 for the

purpose of training Chinese evangelists, Bible-women, and voluntary

workers with a view to the furtherance of missionary work in

Manchuria and Northern China. The School was first started in

temporary premises in 1930, and in 1932 a commodious building was

erected, largely througn the generosity of Mr. John E. Hilton of

Dublin, and later, a further building was acquired for the

accommodation of the women students.

The School is maintained by voluntary subscription,

approximately half of which comes from native sources, the remainder

being contributed mainly from Great Britain and Ireland.

The School is interdenominational in character, and is governed

by a Board consisting of British and American Missionaries,

addition to native Leaders of the Manchukuo Churcn. Foreign members

of the Board include the Revd. James McCammon, M.A., (Irisu

Presbyterian Mission), Mr. J.C.F. Robertson (Britisn & Foreign Bible

Society), Revd. Chas. A. Leonard, D.D. (American Southern Baptist

Mission), and Miss R.A. Houston (American Reformed Presbyterian

Mission).

By a Conveyance drawn up in 1935 the following Trustees were

appointed:-
